Confirm the exact person and status
Ask for the legal name, employer and location, then search the CFA Institute directory. Similar names and outdated firm biographies can create false matches. Connect the credential to the assignment
The CFA programme focuses on investment analysis and portfolio-related knowledge, but the relevance depends on the proposed work and the person's role. Verify regulated activity separately
Use IAPD and BrokerCheck when the person or firm offers regulated investment advisory or brokerage services. Review employment, disclosures, Form CRS, Form ADV and fees. What a complete verification record looks like
A wealth firm lists a CFA charterholder on its investment committee, but a different adviser will manage the client's relationship. The client verifies both roles and asks who makes portfolio decisions instead of transferring the committee member's credential to the whole team.
